In most applications NTC thermistors must be analyzed in the complete circuit where they are used. But in some cases they can be used as linearized sensors by shunting them with a resistor R. In these cases it is possible to analyze RT R = R as an independent element. The result is
Rp = RRt/(Rt+R) (2.32)
R is not linear, yet its change with temperature is smaller than that of RT because the factor multiplying dRT!dT is smaller. The equivalent temperat ure coefficient or sensitivity, analogous to (2.23) is
Thus the improved linearity has been gained at a cost of lower sensitivity. Figure 2.19 shows the result for the case R0 25 kIL B = 4000 K, R = 18500 fi.
Resistor R can be chosen to achieve an improved linearity only in the measurement range. An analytical method to calculate R is by forcing three equidistant points in the resulting resistance-temperature curve to coincide with a straight line.
The condition is thenVariable Resistor Electronic Symbol
Variable Resistor Electronic Symbol. As indicated by its name, a variable resistor, is a type of resistor which value is adjustable/change. Variable resistors have two basic components. The material that provides the variable resistance is called the element. and the movable component, which is used to set the resistance, is called the wiper, or brush.Download thermistor linearization using a fixed shunt resistor in [getwiringdiagram.com] which provided circuit and wiring diagram for automotive, car, motorcycle, truck, audio, radio, electronic devices, home and house appliances.
