Symbol of the revival of the Casa del Biscione, the new D-segment sedan boasts important technical features, such as rear-wheel drive. The engines are also competitive, starting from the 2.2 turbodiesel of 150 and 180 HP, bright and pleasant, to which the flagship 210 HP variant of the Giulia Veloce has recently been added. This version is combined with the Q4 all-wheel drive and the new 2.0 turbocharger with a whopping 280 HP. Another strong point is the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, which is fast and well connected to the various engines. As for the finishes, the level is higher than that of other models in the house and, on the whole, only a few details can be improved. In recent months, the list of accessories is also being completed, approaching those, very full-bodied and sophisticated, of the main competitors. The Giulia is above all a car to drive, thanks to a ready and precise steering, and to a "flat" and very effective set-up, without any downsides in terms of comfort. In fact, the Alfa sedan is comfortable and silent on long journeys. The excellent combination of engines and the ZF automatic transmission also contributes to the excellent dynamic judgment. For the unconventional, the super sporty version is available, 2.9 T V6 Quadrifoglio, with a full 510 HP.

When the Italian company Alfa Romeo was planning the next model of the compact Alfa Romeo 147, those responsible for the brand's strategy decided to give up the practical name consisting of a series of numbers, used for twenty-five years, to bring to life a name of the initial period. For this reason, since 2010 the compact cars of the Milanese house carry the historical name of Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
Alfa Romeo Giulietta sedan, coupe and convertible from 1954 to 1965

For the brand's loyal customers, the name Alfa Romeo Giulietta was initially linked to a series that in the mid-1950s marked the beginning of modern production of large-scale cars in the Alfa home. The first Giulietta was a coupe designed by Bertone, who in 1954 started the tradition of the series. A year later the four-door and two-seater convertible sedan version was proposed. The cabriolet was created by the bodywork designer and designer Pininfarina, and formed the previous model of the superclassic Alfa Romeo Spider. In 1959 Alfa Romeo subjected the Giulietta to a facelift, which made it a rather expensive chrome front portion. On board this car were mounted engines with power up to 54 kW (74 HP) which reached a maximum speed of 160 km / h. In 1965 the Giulietta was replaced with the Alfa Romeo Giulia.
Alfa Romeo Giulietta of the generation proposed from 1977 to 1985

The first re-edition of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta was proposed in 1977 with the Alfa Romeo Giulia, a four-door sedan that had many technical details in common with the larger Alfa Romeo Alfetta sedan, for example the engine mounted in the rear portion. While no design experiments were dared on the three-volume Alfetta with classic proportions, the sedan Alfa Romeo Giulietta of this period dared to offer a breath of fresh air with its short and raised tail portion. At the same time it was also the first version equipped with a diesel engine. In 1985 production of the Giulietta of this generation ceased.
Alfa Romeo Giulietta of the generation proposed since 2010

In 2010, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta was re-launched on the market in the compact car class as a model with the subsequent sporty imprint of the Alfa Romeo 147. Initially, the current generation of the new Giulietta was conceived in a five-door version, which by virtue of the its convex front portion provided with the trapezoid opening of the radiator grille mask resumed the typical somatic features of the Alfa of this period. Among the technical peculiarities it is possible to mention that, as happened for the Alfa Romeo MiTo, the on-board electronic device provided three different chassis adjustment modes on request for particularly sporty handling. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was proposed with an 88 kW (120 HP) and 125 kW (170 HP) petrol engine. The "top" model developed a power of up to 173 kW (235 HP). In addition, two 77 kW (105 hp) and 125 kW (170 hp) diesel engines were available.

At 1993 the last Spider released than for further release Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. The first presentation of the car as a prototype took place at the Turin Motor Show in 1961. Nevertheless, the success of existing models and the economic problems that Italy faced at the time led to the fact that the first pre-sale cars left the production line of the Pininfarina plant only at the end of 1965.

Spider, based on the platform of the Giulia series 105, was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966. The name “Duetto” was chosen for the initially unnamed model based on the results of the competition held in Italy. [8] For the design of the body was answered by the Italian company Pininfarina, while Spider was the last model that the founder of the company Battisto “Pinin” Farina personally was engaged in. The design director in Pininfarina at that time was Franco Martiningo. Pininfarina was also responsible for the production of the body type “Monocoque”, developed in accordance with relatively new at the time, the principles of having special crumple zones in the front and back of the car. The engine – 1570 cm3, 4-cylinder, Twin Cam, had a twin Weber carburettor and a power of 109 hp. (81 kW). The car had a 5-speed manual transmission, disc brakes and an independent front suspension. The price at the time of production launch was 2.195.000 lire in Italy. In the US, the car sold for 3.950 dollars (for comparison, Lotus Elan cost 3.991 dollars, MGB – 2.607 dollars.) In the UK, the car at a price was comparable to the Jaguar E-Type.

The original spider “Duetto” was produced in 1966-1967. At the end of 1967, he was replaced by the 1750 Spider Veloce with a 118 hp engine. (88 kW) with a volume of 1779 cm3. In Europe, it was equipped with two dual carburettors, while models for the North American market were equipped with the SPICA (injection molding injection) system (Società Pompe Iniezione Cassani & Affini) (from the 1969 model year). Also, the suspension, brakes, the electrician have been modified, the wheels and tires have been replaced – although the exterior of the car looked almost the same. Visible changes: the changed position of the rear-view mirror on the door, and other signs on the rear. In the course of production, the forward lights of the followers also moved forward. The official name of the model is “1750 Spider Veloce”, the name “Duetto” has not been used since.
